What is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)?

City Health Services takes enormous pride in improving our patients’ overall health and lives. We understand that “health” is a very ambiguous term. The areas of health that we introduce to our anti-aging lineup of services focus on hormone balancing with testosterone replacement therapies and weight management with Semaglutide.

HRT stands for Hormone Replacement Therapy, a medical treatment involving taking hormones to replace the hormones the body no longer produces or produces in insufficient quantities.

HRT is often used to alleviate symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness, and mood swings, by replacing the estrogen and progesterone hormones that decline during this time. It can also treat other conditions related to hormonal imbalances, such as osteoporosis, which occurs when bones become brittle and fragile due to decreased estrogen levels.

HRT can be administered in various forms, including pills, patches, gels, creams, and injections. The specific type of hormone replacement therapy and dosage will depend on the individual’s needs and health status and should be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider. It is important to note that HRT may carry some risks, and women considering HRT should be informed of both the potential benefits and risks associated with the treatment.

Menopause isn’t for the weak or the faint of heart. It’s a life-altering change that affects women in every aspect of their life.  Emotional changes, unwanted weight gain, loss of lean muscle, loss of energy and motivation, sleep problems such as night sweats and insomnia, depression-like symptoms, lack of libido, and painful intercourse are just a few of the potential symptoms of the change in the hormonal health that all women inevitably experience.

These changes shouldn’t be considered “just a part of getting old.” These symptoms can be avoided with the right practitioner, protocols, and bio-identical hormone replacement therapies. Our practitioners specialize in the vast array of female hormones and can prescribe hormone replacement therapies consisting of the appropriate levels and combinations of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and more. These therapies MUST be implemented on an individual basis. No “one size fits all” hormone therapies exist because every woman differs from the next.

These therapies can also be delivered via a myriad of applications.  We have BioTe Pellets, creams, gels, patches, injectables, orals, and more.  We can find the right fit for you with all of these options.

Low Testosterone

Our goal is to help you begin feeling as well as you did in your 20s and 30s before your natural testosterone levels began to decrease. To accomplish this goal, we use a bio-identical hormone replacement therapy to optimize and regulate your testosterone levels and several other hormones. Since the hormones we use occur naturally in your body, it greatly reduces many of the adverse side effects commonly associated with synthetic therapies.

To begin treatment, we need three things need to occur.  First, we need lab work from you.  This will help us understand your current testosterone levels and ensure we correct the initial dosing.  It will also help us identify anything else that might be going on.  Secondly, we will need a completed intake form with our informed consent.  This will help us understand your health history, current symptoms, and a few lifestyle considerations and goals that will also assist us in determining the best course of action.  Lastly, we bring it all together in consultation with one of our providers.  This is the point where it all comes together.  The lab work, coupled with the information from the intake, will guide the practitioner in asking the right questions to make sure that we get you off on the right foot as quickly as possible with your initial prescription.  Our approach saves you time and money by ensuring we eliminate as much trial and error as possible.

After being on the initial therapy for 60 days, we follow up with you again with additional lab work and another consultation to ensure the treatment works as desired. This also gives us a chance to determine if your physiology requires any additional tweaking to ensure the most appropriate dosing and optimal state is achieved. After this follow-up appointment, you will usually only be required to follow up with us once every six months.  Make no mistake, though, if you ever feel that anything is amiss or feel like your hormones are out of balance, please let us know immediately, and we will get you back to the lab for lab work asap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can HRT be paid for by insurance?

We choose not to accept any commercial insurance for a variety of reasons that compromise the level of care that we consider acceptable.  Unfortunately, the standard of care at all insurance companies disallows our level of care and attention and complicates the process for you as a patient tremendously.

Our program is paid in the form of a monthly membership fee.  The program’s components are Testosterone, Enclomiphene Citrate, Clomid if needed, Anastrozole, all supplies, all lab work, all consultations, and all shipping.  We drop ship your meds directly to your house each month, along with any necessary supplies.  The program costs $299.00 monthly with no extra fees except for the initial lab work charge of $100.00.   We do have discounts for military and first responders as well.  We also are completely month-to-month with no long-term commitment.

We can also provide you with a monthly itemized invoice that many insurance companies will reimburse a portion of.  You will need to explore this option with your specific carrier, but many patients are reimbursed close to $100 monthly.

HSA and FSA accounts are perfectly acceptable forms of payment.

If you would like to determine if you are a candidate, please let us know, and we will be more than happy to help.
